No. Ask as much as you want. Retrieval is unlimited on every plan, including Free, and rate limits exist only to stop abuse. You pay for connected sources, retained context, and the indexing work of keeping it fresh, the things that actually cost us money.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. When you upgrade, the new features are available immediately. When you downgrade, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Only new and changed content counts. We meter the bytes we actually re-embed, deduplicated at the chunk level, so re-syncing unchanged content is free and editing one paragraph bills that paragraph, not the whole document. Included indexing is stated in dollars at the $5/GB rate: Starter’s $15 covers 3 GB a month, and for scale, a large Obsidian vault is about 300 MB, so that re-indexes a vault that size ten times over.
Indexing pauses and everything already indexed stays fully searchable; retrieval is never cut off. On paid plans you can opt in to pay-as-you-go at $5/GB with a monthly spend cap you set, and indexing pauses before the cap can be exceeded, so a surprise bill is impossible. With pay-as-you-go off, indexing resumes when the allowance resets. On Free, the one-time grant does not reset; upgrading resumes indexing.
Individual plans (Free, Starter, Studio, and Pro) are billed at a flat monthly rate for a single person. Team plans (Team and Business) are billed per seat with a three-seat minimum, pool their per-seat indexing allowances across the organization, and add shared workspaces, organization-level controls, and role-based access control.
There is no free trial on paid plans. The Free plan is available indefinitely and needs no credit card, so you can evaluate Orcha before moving to a paid plan.
