Connect Gmail

The Gmail connector reads your mail with the gmail.readonly scope and nothing else. It never sends, changes, or deletes mail, and it requests no access to Drive. Connecting Gmail is itself the opt-in: if you do not want mail indexed, do not connect this provider.

You need the workspace admin role in Orcha and the Google account whose mailbox you want indexed.

Add the connector

1. Open Connectors and choose Gmail.
2. Approve Google's consent screen. The only scope requested is read-only Gmail.
3. Orcha catalogs your labels, then walks a bounded window of recent messages, recording subjects, senders, dates, and labels. Message bodies are not retained yet.

If Google shows a warning that the app is not verified, Orcha's verification review is still in progress. You can continue, or use the older Google Workspace connector with your own OAuth client instead.

Choose what gets indexed

Retention is per label, not per mailbox. Each message is filed under its first user label, so a rule on that label matches it exactly once. Setting a label to full indexes the messages under it.

Orcha refuses a retention rule covering the whole mailbox. Indexing every message you have ever received is almost never what someone means, so the mailbox stays at catalog and you add the labels you actually want.

Older mail outside the initial window stays in Gmail and is never copied.

Use it

Indexed messages come back from search cited to the exact message, with a link into Gmail, from the Orcha app, the REST API, and MCP. After the first walk, Orcha follows Gmail's history feed, so new and deleted messages are picked up without re-listing the mailbox.

Remove it

Open Connectors, choose Gmail, and disconnect. Orcha revokes the token with Google and deletes the indexed messages. Nothing in your mailbox changes.
