Connect Google Drive
Make a catalog of My Drive and shared drives with read-only OAuth, then choose the folders that Orcha indexes.
The Google Drive connector reads Drive files and the contents of Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. It uses read-only scopes. It does not create or change anything in Drive. It does not request access to Gmail. To index your mail also, connect Gmail as a separate connector.
You must have the workspace admin role in Orcha. You must also have a Google account with access to the files that you want to index.
Add the connector
- Open Connectors and choose Google Drive.
- Approve the Google consent screen. The request gives read-only access to Drive, Docs, Slides, and Sheets.
- Orcha makes a catalog of My Drive and of each shared drive that you can access. The catalog has file names, folder structure, owners, and modification times. Orcha does not keep file contents at this step.
Google can show a warning that the app is not verified. This warning shows because the Orcha verification review is not complete. You can continue. Or you can use the older Google Workspace connector with your own OAuth client.
Choose what gets indexed
Orcha keeps no content until you select it. Each drive starts at catalog. At this level, Orcha knows that the file exists but does not store its contents. To index the documents in a folder, set the folder to full. Orcha then keeps the text of Docs, Slides, and Sheets in that folder.
Orcha reads Sheets as ordered cell values, with one section for each sheet. The limits are 20 sheets and 5,000 rows for each sheet. If a spreadsheet is larger, Orcha does not truncate it silently. The result tells how many sheets Orcha did not read.
Orcha puts other file types in the catalog, and you can browse them. Orcha does not keep their contents. Each listing gives the reason.
Use it
Search returns indexed documents with a citation to the exact file. Each result has a link into Drive. You can search from the Orcha app, the REST API, and MCP. After the first full read, Orcha follows the Drive change feed. Thus later syncs get additions, edits, and deletions, and Orcha does not list all of your files again.
Remove it
- Open Connectors.
- Choose Google Drive.
- Disconnect the connector.
Orcha revokes the token with Google and deletes the indexed content. Drive does not change.
